Project Title : Antariksh Waste Ventures Pvt Ltd (https://airb.in/) • Product: AirBin™ - Smart Bin Systems (IoT devices) • Description: Convert existing or new bins to smart bins with AirBin™ IoT system • Vision: Clear every Bin before it overflows | Accelerating Sustainability • Mission: Only 28% of waste generated in India is recycled & waste generated is almost doubling every 5 years. Antariskh wants to clear every bin before it overflows, by digitizing waste management processes through smart bins. • StartUp India Recognised: DIPP 18464 • Qualcomm Design in India 2019 - Top 10 Startups • ET - Top 50 startups to watch out for in 2020 • Can be retrofit on Pole (recommended), Wall or Bin lid

Expected Outcome : Antariksh is working to – • To reduce contagion of Covid-19 through waste generated at CVP’s (Contagion Vulnerable points - Hospitals, Clinics, Public Bins, Quarantine Zones) • Convert Hospitals, Clinic, Quarantine zones or Public bins to Smart Bins, to monitor their fill levels, clearances, and other related metrics, over the cloud • Send alerts to Sanitation teams at regular intervals on fill levels and on-demand clearance requests for faster disposal of contagious waste In Covid-19 case, the hazardous waste generated in hospitals, quarantine zones or red zone areas within cities - are all sources of further community transmission. Hence timely cleanup of bins, followed by some best practices for disinfection will be essential in preventing any further spread of the disease. Outcome A. Implement AirBin™ IoT system in bins in hospitals, clinics, quarantine zones or public bins in red zones within city limits, where hazardous waste maybe generated and has high contagion potential for COVID-19 - i. to remotely monitor waste levels in bins ii. get timely alerts when bins are getting filled up iii. plan and improve waste management process for speedier collection, transportation and disposal B. Get automated cumulative reports of waste clearances and estimated waste generated by categories of wastes, locations, priority, etc. C. Update concerned sanitation teams with status of bin levels periodically D. Update concerned recycler or incinerator for scheduling pickup of waste or route optimization for best pickup route, if across multiple clinics

Project Title : Earthfokus Earthwise Pvt. Ltd. https://www.earthfokus.com/ Earthfokus is an ecofriendly product manufacturing green company, incorporated in 2017, having developed nozzles and water savers for taps and faucets. To date, they have supplied more than 50,000 nozzles to homes, corporates and other commercial places. A group of 4 engineers started EarthFokus back in 2017.

Expected Outcome : The main objective of this project is to come up with a low-cost disinfectant tunnel that can be used in commercial places where people can just walk through the tunnel and get disinfected. Plus it’s efficient in delivering fine mist and has automatic on and off switch. Outcome It’s very essential to stay sanitized to stay safe from the COVID-19. In commercial spaces, it’s hard to keep everybody clean. This cost-effective tunnel is easy to walk in and it sprays a fine mist over the person covering the entire body from the body to the leg, It’s fine that you do not get drenched while walking through it. It disinfects your whole body by spraying the sanitizer over the body. This is a very simple way and acts as a supplementary method to prevent ourselves from the coronavirus.

Project Title : IIT Palakkad is preparing alcohol-based hand sanitizer to kill the Coronavirus along with other microorganisms. The hand sanitizer has been prepared following the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines. The composition of the hand sanitizer is 75% Isopropanol (IPA), 1.45% Glycerol and 23.55% deionized water. Few drops of essential oil can be added for fragrance. Glycerol and water were first mixed thoroughly before adding into isopropanol. The final solution was homogenized before aliquoting in smaller bottles.

Expected Outcome : We are regularly preparing bulk quantity of IPA-based hand sanitizer and supplying to IIT Palakkad community as well as various hospitals at Palakkad for sanitization purpose.
Expected Timeline : This is already being prepared in regular basis.

Project Title : Development of hands-free sanitizer/soap dispensers to contain COVID 19

Expected Outcome : The expected outcome is detailed designs of various inexpensive, foot-operated soap/hand-sanitizer dispensers which can be used by the public. It is expected that some of these can be replicated at home by students/the general public, while others will need access to a workshop but can be easily mass-produced by industry.
Expected Timeline : One design has been deployed. More designs will be fabricated in the next 4 weeks.
Remarks : Inexpensive foot-operated sanitizer/soap dispensers are being developed and deployed to prevent the spread of bacteria and viruses from soap dispensers which are for public use. While existing commercial designs are commonly made using electronics and require power, the focus here is on foot-operated systems. The systems include designs which can be reproduced at hospitals using equipment which is expected to be easily available there. Low- cost, do-it-yourself designs are favoured for such applications.
